Since setting up the Radio Reading Service at Levin we have come to know some wonderful people.  Our radio station is based at Levin in New Zealand.   The volunteers mostly live within a comfortable distance from the  station and come in at times to suite.

If you think volunteering with the Radio Reading Service is something you would like to do lets explore opportunities and openings at our Levin base.

We have been amazed at the number and variety of willing helpers who ask about being a volunteer at the Radio Reading Service.  People from as far away as the USA and UK have been keen to help us but we think the commute is a bit unrealistic.

Our volunteers serve at the Levin station and we do not have any volunteer opportunities available in other parts of Aotearoa New Zealand.

The RRS was established by volunteers to "turn print into sound" for people who can't see, hold, understand or access everyday printed literature.

Our volunteers read news and information in its original published style without editing, comment, abridgement or censor.  We aim to provide a full, fresh and inclusive programme of readings from Newspapers plus Magazines and other Literary works.

Our experience along with colleagues around the world is there are many more PRINT DISABLED people than previously thought possible.

At Levin we need more people to join our volunteer team -

(a) Studio Operators.

(b) Readers.

(c) Support/Resource people.

You can help by encouraging people to listen.  We are a dedicated RADIO READING SERVICE for people who are Print Disabled.

If you are within the proximity of Levin and would like to know more about becoming a volunteer please make contact.

There is an audition procedure for people who will be heard on air and a general volunteer understanding.  At the Radio Reading Service we value our volunteers.

If you would like to become a volunteer at Levin contact us for a chat about options which best suit you.

(a) Studio Operators ~ run the station and make sure the programmes get to air.

(b) Readers ~ read a wide variety of topical news and other information taken from cooperating publications.

(c) Support/Resource people ~ enable everything to happen as it should ranging from Administration to Marketing, Fund Raising and Engineering.

This is a solid social service broadcast which has been on air since May 9th 1987 thanks to the help and support of many people from all parts of the community.
